Identity verification (KYC)

Learn which documents you need for identity verification, how to take a selfie, and what to do if your documents are rejected.

This article is about the new Weltrade 2.0 app. Using the current Weltrade app? See the guide for the current app.

Identity verification (KYC) confirms who you are. It unlocks withdrawals. You can pass it automatically in the verification form, or upload documents for manual review.

Before you start

  • Complete the Personal Information step in Verification.

  • Make sure your first name, last name and date of birth match your ID exactly.

  • Prepare a valid ID document. The types you can choose depend on the issuing country, for example a passport, national ID card or driver's license.

Document requirements

ID document

  • Passport: one page with your photo and personal details.

  • National ID card: both sides.

  • The document must be valid, not expired.

  • It must show your name, photo, date of birth and expiry date.

  • All edges must be visible. Nothing is cropped or covered.

Photo

  • Use an original color photo. Screenshots, scans and edited images are not accepted.

  • Lay the document flat in good light, without glare or shadows.

  • Formats: JPG, JPEG or PNG. Each file is up to 5 MB.

Proof of address

Only if requested.

  • Accepted: a utility bill, bank statement or tax notice.

  • It must show your full name and address.

  • It must be dated within the last 3 months.

Selfie

Some countries require a selfie to compare your face with the photo on your ID.

  1. Allow camera access.

  2. Stand in bright, even light against a plain background.

  3. Show your full face within the frame, without glasses, a hat or a mask.

  4. Follow the on-screen prompts, for example look at the camera and turn your head left and right.

Turn off filters and beauty apps. If the app asks you to hold your ID, make sure your face and the document are clearly visible.

If you upload documents manually, the selfie must show you holding your open passport next to your face.

How long it takes

Automatic checks take about 1 minute. Manual review usually takes up to 24 hours. We may ask for additional documents to complete verification, for example proof of address, source of funds or income. In that case it can take up to 14 business days. You will get an email when the review is finished.

If your verification fails

1. Check the reason in the email from Weltrade or in the Verification section.

2. Check that your name and date of birth match your ID.

3. Retake the photo or selfie following the requirements above, including the sheet of paper if you upload documents manually.

4. Upload the documents again.

Warning. Don't make many attempts in a row. If the system locks you out, wait a few minutes and try again.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Why was my selfie rejected?

The most common reasons are a blurry or dark image, a partly covered or cropped face, filters, a missed on-screen prompt, or a face that doesn't match the ID photo.

Why were my documents rejected?

The most common reasons are a blurry or cropped image, an expired document, a name or date of birth that doesn't match your profile, a screenshot or scan, or the wrong document type.

Why does my name have to match the ID?

We compare your profile with your document. If they differ, automatic verification fails and goes to manual review.

Can I use a driver's license?

Yes, as proof of identity. A passport or national ID card also works.

What if my status doesn't change for a long time?

Contact Support (tap the profile icon in the top right corner, then Live chat in the Support section) and send your account details.
